HLC Continuous Improvement
KU's timeline for the ten-year accreditation cycle on the Open Pathway is found below. KU archives and organizes select documents related to our institutional accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). A variety of documents from 2019 through 2025 are presented below.
Ten-Year Accreditation Cycle Timeline2025 Comprehensive Review
In 2025, KU conducted an extensive self-study to prepare for a university wide reaffirmation of accreditation by HLC. On July 3, 2025, the institution’s accreditation was reaffirmed through 2035 and the peer review team report was approved.
Quality Initiative
As part of the Open Pathway model, KU will develop a Quality Initiative that addresses an academic issue of institutional importance. A proposal was submitted to HLC in June 2022 and a final report is due June 1, 2024
Multi-Location Site Visit
In Spring 2023, KU submitted a Multi-Location Institutional Report that included data about each selected location and explained its operations. HLC's peer reviewer examined evidence to assure the quality of KU's extended operations and the institutions capacity to maintain that quality.
HLC conducts multi-location site visits every five years. The next site visit will be conducted during AY 2027-2028
2019 Mid-Cycle Assurance Review
As part of HLC's accreditation process, a campus committee from across the university provided input for KU's Assurance Argument. The Argument was submitted in June 2019 to demonstrate KU meets the Criteria and Core Components for Accreditation. A peer review team evaluated the Assurance Argument and HLC accepted the recommendations outline in the Team Report
